Molding Preparation Tools for Holsters and Sheaths
Shop molding preparation tools that protect and space the item in the mold and then lay out hardware holes on finished holsters and sheaths. Choose steel templates for clip and loop holes, retention plates and spacer jigs that set retention and clearance around the gun, plus light widgets, sight dowels, molding tape and wallet jigs.
Gun-specific prep starts with our retention plates, each made for a particular gun in steel or MDF. They cover Glock, M&P, Springfield Hellcat, Sig Sauer P320, 1911, Beretta and more, and the 0.125 inch split-mold steel pairs are made for vacuum press work. Three steel jigs on the spacers and blocking plates page shape the trigger guard area for Glock holsters, keep spacing even along the slide and block off the slide release. A mounted weapon light calls for ASM™ molding widgets, which build extra room around the light and trigger guard into the mold.
At the press, thermoform tape does two jobs, with 3M masking tape shielding the finish of the knife or gun inside the mold and Fomaxx double-sided tape holding pressing foam in place. A trimmed length of the wooden dowel rods, taped in place before molding, leaves room for the gun's sights. To mount hardware, steel mounting and drilling templates lay out the holes for Tek-Lok, Ulticlip, Molle-Lok®, FOMI clips, pancake loops, G-Code hangers and Safariland attachments, so holster and sheath builds get accurate, consistent hole spacing.
Steel wallet jigs carry the same prep work over to card wallets and credential holders, in three thicknesses for a shallower or deeper card pocket. If you need help matching a retention plate to your gun or a template to your clip or loop, send us the model and hardware and we will look it up.
