Hand Tools and Torx Drivers for Knife Making
Shop Torx drivers, a 58-piece bit set, Alien head spanner wrenches and a 1.5mm hex key for knife screws, with ball peen hammers for setting pins and peening bolsters. Coil spring pocket cutter bits, a heavy duty cutter guide and replacement pilots serve automatic knife builders, while a slide rule estimates hollow grind heights from steel thickness.
The Security Torx set runs six sizes from T5 to T20, and Pro Series wrenches come in T5, T6, T8 and T10 with hardened steel tips and a rotating rear pommel that spins in your hand as you press down. The MaxxDriver packs eight sizes, T4 through T15, onto four double-sided bits stored in its removable pommel cap, while the Exotic Bit Set pairs a rotating driver and extension chuck with bits in a PVC holder.
With a cutter head threaded on, the heavy duty pocket cutter guide fits most common drill chucks and cuts the coil spring cavity for an automatic folder. The high-speed steel cutter bits come in 3/8 inch with a Karbon X coating, 7/16 inch and 1/2 inch, cutting around the outside of the hole so the center comes out as a solid slug. The guide's spring-loaded pilot pops that slug free, and spare pilots come in a 3-pack. In tool steel, run the cutter at 400rpm with lube.
Ball peen hammers come in 24oz for control or 32oz for heavier blows, both with a fiberglass handle and tacky rubber grip. Designed by Bill Herndon, the grind slide rule covers stock from 1/8 to 3/8 inch and carries a steel alloy chart on the back. Spanner wrenches in 2-56 and 6-32 fit CKK Alien Spanner screws, and the 1.5mm L-wrench suits our FL001 to FL009 framelock kits. Ask us which Torx or spanner size fits your folder's screws, and visit knife making tools for drills and taps to make their threaded holes.
