Knife Handle Wood Scales, Blocks and Stabilized Burls
Shop knife handle wood in paired scale sets, solid blocks and resin stabilized burl blocks, natural or dyed in shades from Sapphire to Molasses Brown. Species include Walnut, Curly Maple, Figured Cherry, Desert Ironwood, Mexican Cocobolo, Ziricote and Ukrainian Bog Oak, plus Dymalux™ and Liberty Wood® laminated scales for knife makers and hobbyists.
Many scale sets are book matched, so the grain mirrors from one scale to the other. Pairs in Bubinga, Canarywood, Mahogany, Yellowheart and several other species start at 3.50in long, and Walnut, Curly Maple, Wenge and Zebrawood come in wider 5.75in x 2.00in pairs. Depending on the species, sets come in Standard, Figured Grain or Presentation grade, and Desert Ironwood is offered in Exhibition Grade.
Resin stabilizing under pressure adds dimensional stability and moisture resistance. Chakte Viga, Shedua, Jobillo, Olive and Cedar arrive stabilized, and Bog Oak blocks are offered natural or stabilized. Dyed Maple Burl blocks come in Aqua, Sable, Emerald Green, Pistachio, Plum and double-dyed Purple/Yellow, and European Hornbeam is dyed Black, Olive or Orange. Alder Box Burl, Box Elder, Acacia, Beech Burl and Ash blocks come dyed too, and their listings, like the Maple Burl ones, picture the actual block you receive, with several holding enough wood for two or more thick scale sets. Mexican Cocobolo blocks and scale sets are photographed the same way, with protective equipment recommended for Cocobolo's oils and fine dust.
Curly Koa, Myrtle Burl, Hawaiian Mango, Curly Walnut and Redheart scale sets stay natural, as do Wenge, Katalox and Lacewood blocks. Dymalux™ scales layer dyed hardwood with resin in 14 colors, and Liberty Wood® laminated sets come 0.250in or 0.350in thick. A 19.00in maple tomahawk handle drift and a flat Purpleheart board are here too. Bone, horn, G10, resin, cord wrap and spacers sit in Handle Materials, and our staff answers grade and block size questions.
