Scrimshaw Kits with a Bone-Handled Slipjoint Knife
Shop an intermediate scrimshaw kit built around a bone-handled 2-blade slipjoint folder, so a knife maker can practice etching on a real knife handle. A heat-treated steel scribe, India ink, carbon paper, steel wool, an ink applicator, picture samples and step-by-step instructions come with the knife.
The folder's genuine bone scales are your etching surface, and its two blades are 440A stainless steel. Scrimshaw draws on maritime tradition, and this kit carries that craft over to knife making.
The heat-treated scribe gives precise control for clean lines, and the India ink brings the etching out against the bone. Enough material comes in the kit to finish the included knife and several other projects, which leaves room to keep practicing after the first handle is done.
Hobbyists, knife makers and gunsmiths can use it to explore or expand their engraving skills. The Assorted Kits page carries the wooden trapper and tactical folder kits along with the leather projects, and questions about the scribe, ink or knife go through the contact page.
