Handle Bushings and Tang Nuts for Knife Makers

Shop brass and stainless steel handle bushings that shrink oversized tang holes down to fit smaller pins, fasteners, and pivots. Tang nuts for hidden tang knives come as a 1-pack or 10-pack, with slotted cylinder styles in brass or 416 stainless steel and a Harvey Dean design with a T9 Torx drive.

Brass bushings come in five inside diameters on a 0.250in outside diameter, each in a short or long length, plus a larger 0.310in OD size in two lengths. A stainless steel bushing is offered as well. Fitted into an oversized tang hole, a bushing helps keep a smaller pin or fastener from shifting side to side. Set them with mechanical fasteners or bed them in handle epoxy for a permanent fit, and on folding knives use them as pivot bushings, standoffs, spacers, or lanyard attachment points.

Tang nuts fasten the handle and pommel on a hidden tang knife. The brass slotted cylinder nut is .312in long with a 1/4-20 or 8-32 thread, or .550in long with a 1/4-20 thread, and its slotted ends take a tool for controlled tightening. The same slotted design is made in 416 stainless steel. Knifemaker Harvey Dean designed the Model#1 tang nut in 416 stainless steel with 1/4-24 threads, and it fits many hidden tang blades on the market. Its surface takes engraving, filework, or a decorative finish to suit the knife.
