Cast and Stainless Knife Guards, Pommels, and Fittings
Shop knife guards, pommels, and matched sets in brass, bronze, nickel silver, and stainless steel for hidden tang fixed blades. The range covers engraved animal head pommels, slotted guards with slipover cavities, sword and dagger sets, and scabbard mouths and tips, some cast to match a guard.
Knife guards come slotted to slip over the tang, and cast designs such as Braided Knot, Screaming Hawk, and Wolf Paw let you fine-tune the slot to fit. Harvey Dean oval and S pattern guards in heat-treated 420 stainless are listed there too, with Universal Series oval guards in 440 stainless or brass. Knife pommels close the butt end of a hidden tang handle. Choices include bear, boar, lynx, ram, rhino, walrus, and shark heads, loop caps, and a skull with horns, and most are cast with extra material at the base and rim for sanding to fit your handle. A radiused oval pommel by Harvey Dean, in 420 stainless, is recessed at the fastener hole so the tang nut can be tightened below its face.
Sets keep the front and back of a handle matched. The guard and pommel sets page pairs the two pieces in bronze, brass, or nickel silver, engraved with knotwork, scrolls, or animals such as a cobra or pike, and a few are made for daggers and swords. Guard, pommel, and scabbard sets add an engraved mouth and tip for the scabbard in a fruit or leaf pattern. Under scabbard sets are mouth and tip fittings in leaf and plain styles, a scroll design that adds a bolster, and flower designs cast to pair with a guard.
Guard names list the slot size, so start with a caliper reading of the tang where it meets the blade. Send those measurements to our shop for help narrowing the choices.
