Delta 5 Precision Kit (Universal)
w/Cocobolo Handle Scales
-----------------------------
Tools Used
Drill Press
¼” drill
(.277) drill
Hammer
Anvil surface
Sandpaper
(Belt sander, if available)
-----------------------------

These are the kit parts we’ll be working with for this project.
Deburr and sand all the surfaces that will touch the blade. Carefully try each component on
he blade with different sides up until you find the best match for each, then mark the outside of each piece.
Insert the pins thru each bolster and peen the pins on each side. Turn the piece over and over as you
peen each side evenly.
After all the pins are in place and peened over, fit the handle slabs on both sides. You may need to
sand the ends a little until they slide fully into place.
Place one handle slab in place and drill thru the holes in the shank and all the way thru the handle slab using
a ¼” drill. Do this for both pieces.
Using a “J” (.277) drill, carefully counterbore the holes in the handle slabs until you have about 1/16” of the
original hole in the bottom of each hole.
Spread a thin coat of epoxy over all the parts and screw the handle slabs in place. Clamp the handle together and
let the epoxy cure.
File and rough sand the handle to shape.
Use body and fender wet or dry sandpaper from an automotive store.
This is how our project knife looks with cocobolo handle scales. Sand to suit and polish with paste wax.
Congratulations!
You now have a great looking Delta 5 Knife!
