Knife Sharpening, File Work and Blade Etching Tools
Shop a Wicked Edge® guided sharpener, a Smith's carbide sharpener, a leather paddle strop, a diamond-coated serration wheel and carbide-faced file guides for knife blades. A 12-piece needle file set, an electrochemical etching system with its refill kit, and blue or green stencil papers cover fine filing and permanent maker's marks on steel.
On the Wicked Edge® WE100, guided rods hold one sharpening angle from heel to tip, with angles that adjust independently to match a factory bevel on blades up to 15 inches. The Smith's Broadhead Sharpener touches up a work knife with pre-set tungsten carbide blades you can reverse or replace. The two-sided cowhide strop then removes the burr that sharpening leaves, using its vegetable-tanned and suede faces.
The USA-made Shark Bite wheel cuts serrations into a blade with a 1.295 inch pattern in 120 grit diamond and fits a 3/4 inch grinder shaft. File guides in Standard, V7 and Big Mert styles clamp the blade between carbide faces so both sides file or grind evenly, for bevels, stick tang shoulders, guard fitting, thumb serrations and decorative file work. Use them with hand files or aluminum oxide belts, as ceramic belts can damage the carbide. The 6-1/4 inch needle files on nylon handles do fine detail filing.
The Personal Etching System runs from a 110V AC outlet to etch a permanent mark into round or flat metal, and a refill kit restocks its solutions and imaging papers. Stencil paper comes in 2-packs of blue opaque or green translucent sheets, and the green shows the blade as you line up a mark. Find grinders under knife making tools, and ask our staff which file guide style suits your blade.
