Level 2 Retention Kits with Holster Hoods and Thumb Breaks
Shop Level 2 retention kits that add an active hood or thumb break to a Level I gun holster, bringing duty belt, chest rig and daily carry builds up to Level II. Choose from HOLSTEX® IDX-II™, Speed Lock Gen 2, WRS and Talon Retention Systems square and round hood kits, plus thumb break sets in Tegris® or synthetic leather.
Every kit here raises a Level I holster to Level II with a hood or thumb break that holds the handgun until the shooter releases it on the draw. The Level II Hood Kit with a 5.75 inch strap is a right-hand Tactical Black set that includes a hood, five mounting posts and four mounting screws. The WRS Level II Mechanism with Hood Kit, also tactical black, includes all mounting hardware and a hood designed for fast deployment.
The Speed Lock Gen 2 from Spetz Gear shares the WRS mounting pattern, so it fits holsters and molds already made for the WRS. Its rearward thumb release suits holsters on chest rigs and vest carriers. HOLSTEX® IDX-II™ hood kits keep debris out with a closed mechanism built from reinforced nylon composite. Square and round hoods from Talon Retention Systems are made in the U.S.A. Level II Thumb Break Sets use a molded snap thumb break instead of a hood, include an IWB Rigid Loop, and install with basic leatherworking tools.
The 5.75 inch set is right-hand while the other hood kits come in left- or right-hand versions, and the IDX-II™, Speed Lock and Talon kits offer a hardware option.
