Knife Making Steel, Damascus Bar Stock and Bolster Blanks
Shop bar stock for knife blades in layered Damascus, stainless clad San Mai, and 15N20 high carbon steel. Small brass C260 and 440C stainless bolster blanks sit alongside them, each sized for one knife and easy to shape into a bolster for a new build or a repair.
Damascus fills most of this section, with 97 bars on the Damascus steel page. Ninety-six are 416 layer USA Carbon Damascus, stacked from four steels including 15N20 and folded five times, in random raindrop, ladder and other patterns. Those bars ship before heat treatment, with hardening and etching steps written into each listing. The remaining bar is a hand forged Gambler Custom 120 layer Damascus of 1084 and 15N20, cut to the same size as the San Mai bars.
For a stainless clad blade, San Mai steel offers nine Gambler Custom bars, normalized and annealed, that wrap cores like 80CrV2, 8670, and 1095 in 410 stainless. Carbon steel holds a 15N20 high carbon bar, an affordable steel that is popular for practice and prototype blades.
