The STX10 Dual Bearing Flipper Knife Kit is a premium DIY folding knife platform designed for makers who want to experience the speed, precision, and engineering of a modern bearing-driven flipper. Built around a full-sized 4.40 inch blade crafted from 440C stainless steel, the STX10 is heat-treated to RC 56–58 for dependable edge retention, toughness, and long-lasting performance. The large blade pairs with an ergonomic 5.60 inch handle to create an impressive 10.00 inch overall length, making the STX10 one of the largest folding knife kits in its class.
 
The heart of this design is its dual caged micro bearing pivot system. Supported by two stainless steel bearing washers and a stainless steel pass-through pivot, the blade deploys with incredibly smooth, lightning-fast action while maintaining secure, reliable lockup. The modern flipper design offers an outstanding opportunity for aspiring knife makers to study one of today's most popular folding knife mechanisms and apply those concepts to future custom builds.
 
Every kit includes precision-machined handle scales, stainless steel hardware, a reversible pocket clip for right- or left-hand carry, and all of the components needed to complete the knife. Handle materials vary by model, allowing builders to choose between the timeless elegance of Abalone Pearl Composite, the rugged practicality of Black G10, or the lightweight strength of Carbon Fiber. Assembly requires one T6 Torx driver and one T8 Torx driver (not included).

    I received this knife as a Father's Day gift in June 2024 and set to work almost immediately. I have previously built a couple of Knifekits.com kits, so I already had a set of Torx screw drivers. I sincerely recommend watching the excellent instructional video on building this knife on Youtube (https://youtu.be/5x3dpYhFvNI?feature=shared) before starting to work on it. The main points to remember are (1) not to crank down too hard on the screws, and (2) assemble it once, and then take it apart and do it again using Locktite. The end result is a knife that is rock solid when opened, secure when closed, and is so very easy to flick open due to the bearings at the pivot. Moreover, the knife is exceptionally attractive. Even my wife and mother, who usually aren't "knife people" remarked on how pretty the knife is. The abalone handles are iridescent and colorful — changing and reflecting light differently as one moves the handle in the light. The blade is slender and well-proportioned, with an attractive bayonet tip and a slightly matte finish that complements the handle. The bolsters share the same finish as the blade. The blade is very sharp. Having a liner lock, this knife is in some ways an update to Italian manual, lock back stiletto knives. My father passed one of those to me before he passed away. It was one of his favorite knives. I think he would have liked this one too. I highly recommend this kit to anyone looking for an attractive and innovative Italian style stiletto with a modern twist.

    I’ve had this knife for a month or two. It was very easy to put together and the handles polished up to a gloss with ease. Despite its size you can barely feel it while it clipped inside your pocket. It’s a stunning knife, I’ve got many compliments on it.
