At the heart of every Jim Dandy kit is a USA-made 2.75-inch hollow-ground trailing point blade forged from either 1075 high carbon steel or premium carbon Damascus steel. The high carbon versions are heat treated to 59–61 RC for strong edge retention and dependable performance, while the Damascus variants feature a 416-layer construction (52100, 5160, 203E, and 15N20) folded five times and heat treated to 56–58 RC. Both options are ground on both sides and designed to deliver a smooth cutting profile with excellent control in a compact form factor.
With a 2.75-inch blade length and a 6.25-inch overall length, the Jim Dandy offers a highly manageable size that carries easily while still providing real utility in use. The 0.75-inch blade width keeps the profile slim and refined, while the full tang construction with multiple through-holes gives builders flexibility in handle design, pin placement, and fastener customization. A 0.250-inch thong hole allows for optional lanyard attachment, adding further carry versatility.
Each kit includes eight 0.125-inch tang holes designed for secure handle construction and stainless steel pinstock for reliable assembly. Builders can choose between blade-only configurations or complete combo kits that include pre-sized exotic hardwood handle scales for a faster, more guided build experience.
